Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What mounting solution should I use to install Pro-Tint window films?
Our window films are self adhesive and applied with a simple mixture of one teaspoon of Johnson Baby
Shampoo or any liquid (Joy, Ivory) dish soap added to 32 onces of tap water. Do not use any liquid dish
soap that contains a degreaser.
Q. What is VLT?
VLT - Visible Light Transmittance: tells how much light can pass through the film.  The lower the
number, the darker the film.
Q. How do I clean my Pro-Tint window film?
Cleaning any of our Pro-Tint window films is very easy. Always clean our window films with a soapy water
solution and a soft cloth or a clean synthetic sponge or soft squeegee. A simple cleaning solution for
our Pro-Tint window films is one teaspoon of liquid (Joy, Ivory) dish soap added to 32 ounces of tap
water. Do not use any liquid dish soap that contains a degreaser. Never use cleaning products that
contain ammonia or vinegar as a cleaning solution.
Avoid using some brands of paper towels that are coarse enough to put fine scratches in the window
film. While these scratches may be too thin to see at the beginning, they can damage the polish look of
the film over time. Always use soft cleaning materials to dry your Pro-Tint window films after cleaning. Do
not use brushes or any abrasive scrubbing sponge products when cleaning your film.
Do not clean your Pro-Tint window films sooner than thirty days after your installation.
Q. How do I get the water bubbles and/or air pockets that are left behind during the installation
     period to go away?
To answer your question concerning bubbles left behind during the installation period. There are several
things that could have occurred during the installation. Typical time for the window film to cure is around
30 to 60 days depending on the weather conditions (warm days above 40 or cold temperatures), and
location of the glass (North, South, East and West) determines how much sun the glass receives. There
have been times in the winter months that the films will need 6 months or more to cure. Typical visual
cure times may be extended or shortened according to climactic conditions.

If the bubbles are air or water filled and are no larger than the size of a quarter don’t do anything but wait
until the window film has time to cure. DO NOT put pin holes into the bubbles to release the air or water
pocket(s).The suns heat will heat up the glass and the film will attach itself to the glass.
If you have any type of particles (dirt or residue) trapped between the glass and film causing a bubble
type appearance then you may want to redo the window again.
